Rockwall County Pony Club

Welcome to the home page of the Rockwall County Pony Club!

RCPC is affiliated with the United States Pony Club and is open to individuals between the ages of 6 and 25 who live in or near Rockwall County. Children under the age of 8 must be taking regular lessons, either own or lease their own horse/pony, and be approved by the DC to join.

Pony Club is designed to create horsemen - people who not only know how ride well, but also how to care well for their horses. Several Pony Clubbers have gone on to become members of international equestrian teams, including the US Olympic team! Pony Club develops leadership skills, fosters responsibility, and teaches kids how to work as a team - all while learning about one of their favorite subjects!

Quiz rally is officially scheduled for Feb 2 in Longview.

Our preps for Quiz rally will follow the school schedule and will include some extra practices while the girls are out on Christmas break.
They will be Sundays at 4pm.
Mtg schedule as follows:
Dec 2 - Ellie Lofland - 104 W Kaufman St, Rockwall. Ofc with burgandy awnings with name Brian Blessing on top.
Dec 9 - Alex Thomas -
Dec 16 - Ashley Minckler -
You will need to decide at the Dec 16 meeting details for the sessions over Christmas
January hosts TBD.
See below for topic assignments - each group of girls needs to make sure they host a session.

You will need the D Manual of Horsemanship and the book entitled Riding to Hounds in America (available in the bookstore at http://www.ponyclub.org). If you are a D2, you will also need the C Manual of Horsemanship. You will need to study up to two levels above your rating. So D1's should study up to D3 questions, and D2's up to C1 questions. You will also need access to the current rulebooks, also available for download from the Pony Club website.

**Each PC'er needs to come to the meeting having ALREADY studied material related to the topic set for the evening.

You can utilize the Quiz book in the barn office to gather information for your assigned topic. You will also need to
refer to the Manuals and rulebooks.

Assigned topics are as follows:
Sydney - Stations
Jeannie & Ashley - Horse Sports (including foxhunting)
Quinn & Isabelle - Stable Management & Farrier
Alex & Katie C - Veterinary & Nutrition
Alyssa & Riley - Riding & Tack
Ellie & Katie H - Breeds & Conformation

* Updates 10/18/07
Regional dues for 2008 will be $25.

* Parents, if you would like to order a polo shirt ($20), a windsuit ($60 for the jacket, $5 for the name embroidered if you want, and $25 for the pants) please email Rhonda ( rslinehan@aol.com ) or call her 972-772-2706 and let her know.

*  To help solve our continued quandry over putting together our tack boxes for rally, we have decided to institute a $50 fee for every new girl going to rally for the first time.  (This would be tax-deductible, I think??)  This will help purchase the needed equipment, as well as restock when things get used up, expire, etc.  So if you are going to rally for the first time, please submit that.
